Maria is a Toronto lawyer practicing family law at Maleki Barristers.  In addition to her law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School, Maria holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from York University.  She is passionate about social justice and advocating for women and children.  She has worked at the Office of the Children’s Lawyer, representing children’s legal interests, as well as in Family Courts across the GTA, assisting unrepresented litigants in navigating the court system.

Prior to her career in family law, Maria was a research assistant for the Healthy Coping Project  at York University, working with community agencies providing therapy to children who had  experienced abuse and their caregivers, and the Trauma and Recovery Research Project at the  University of Toronto, investigating narrative writing to facilitate recovery from trauma.  She is honoured to serve on Nellie’s Board of Directors to advance its mission of supporting women and children.
