Call for Applications – Social Justice & Accessibility Committee

Nellie’s is seeking community members to join our Social Justice and Accessibility Committee whose experiences align with Nellie’s Mission:

Our Mission is to operate programs and services for women and children who have and are experiencing oppressions such as violence, poverty and homelessness. Nellie’s is a community-based feminist organization which operates within an anti-racist, anti-oppression framework. We are committed to social change through education and advocacy, to achieve social justice for all women and children.

About the Committee

The Social Justice and Accessibility Committee will develop a work plan based on Nellie’s social justice priorities to guide committee activities and inform Nellie’s Board of Directors of social justice and accessibility issues to ensure that the principles of feminism, anti-racism, and anti-oppression (ARAO) are consistently reflected and active across the entire organization.  This committee works from a Board Policy Governance approach.

 The Social Justice and Accessibility Committee may have up to 10 members, 5 of whom are to be community members. Nellies is seeking up to 3 community members with priority given to women with disabilities and/or deaf women as well as women who are former direct service recipients. The term of membership is 2 years with the option of renewing for additional terms.
