Fundraising Coordinator – Full Time (non-unionized position)

For 50 years Nellie’s has been providing shelter and support for marginalized women and their children in the Greater Toronto Area. We operate programs and services, for women and children who had or are experiencing violence, poverty, and homelessness. Nellie’s works to lessen homeless for women and their children whether the cause is family violence, mental health, or any other reason that results in dealing with the impact from trauma.

Our core operations involve our 38-bed emergency shelter for women and their children who are homeless or escaping violent situations. In addition to our shelter, Nellie’s operates Community Support and Outreach programs that provides after care support and follow-up services to women after they leave the shelter, as well as transitional housing support for women living in the community who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless.

Nellie’s is currently seeking a Fundraising Coordinator to join our development team. The Fundraising Coordinator is primarily responsible for providing overall coordination and administrative support to the Director of Development, as well as assist with the execution of events. The incumbent must be organized, enthusiastic, and adaptable, detail oriented, a strong collaborator, with an interest in fundraising for underserved women and their children.

Hours: 35 hours per week. Monday to Friday (but may including evenings as needed)
Starting Salary: $55,000

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the general direction of the Director of Development, the incumbent primary role is providing general administrative support towards the successful acquisition of Nellie’s fundraising target including assisting with in-kind donations, third-party fundraising activities, event planning and overseeing Nellie’s annual Sponsor a Family Holiday
program. The incumbent will also ensure effective stewardship takes place following a gift to maintain the donor’s involvement, interest, and continued support.

Main Areas of Responsibility: Administration

  •  Be the first point of contact for Third Party events
  • Assist with collection and distribution of in-kind donations
  • Filing and information management pertaining to all aspects of fundraising
  • Regularly maintain and update donor records
  •  Write personalized donor thank you letters when necessary
  • Respond to donor inquiries in a friendly and timely manner
  • Work with staff and donors to effectively administer annual holiday programs for shelter and community clients
  • General office administration
  • Perform other duties as required

Main Areas of Responsibility: Event Planning

  • Work with Senior Management Team on International Women’s Day event and Annual General Meeting as directed
  • Supporting events on the day of, including, welcoming guests, directing event set-up and tear-down, communicating with staff.
  • Creating on-site event packages including printing agendas, programs registration lists and attendee badges as required
  • Reconciliation and reporting on event finances
  • Assist in conducting on-site tours and site inspections
  • Conduct pre- and post-event evaluations and report on outcomes
  • Perform other duties as required

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a fundraising environment or a combination of education (Fundraising Management Certificate) and experience
  • Knowledge of Raisers Edge NXT fundraising platform an asset
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of CRA receipting regulations preferable
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills in order to effectively liaise with a variety of individuals including donors, volunteers and agency staff
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to exercise sound logic and judgment in evaluating situations and utilizing appropriate resources
  • Outstanding ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and openly in all interactions, both verbal and written
  • Must already possess documentation to work legally in Canada
  • Keen decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule to meet the business needs
  • Ability to maintain good working relations with vendors
  • Demonstrated ability to work with maximum accuracy, efficiency and attention to detail, maintaining a keen sense of urgency at all times
  • Must be self-directed, motivated and demonstrate exceptional service, interpersonal, and analytical skills
